Perched on a gradual hill the design aims to provide the site views from all sides embraced by a serene welcoming green. The floor plan was conceived with the living spaces along E-W axis and the private spaces along N-S. As one walks their way up into the formal living and dining, they pass through the porch on the West, a long verandah, a garden space and sit out. The living areas on the west end become a source of natural light which maintains the cool all day long and offers good sunset views. This nature friendly abode intends to bring together natural and architectural elements to enjoy the benefit of the surrounding plantation. The front facing the entrance road and the rear facing the endless plantation ensures to capture natural ventilation, comfort and a fresh atmosphere inside. The village setting is further enhanced with brick accents that complement all other white walls and the greenery, adds an earthy and rustic tone imparting a homely atmosphere and character to the house. Courtyard homes carry a sense of serenity allowing nature to be part of the home, however, this home has multiple pockets that increase the relationship with the green outside as well as have the living spaces relate to the outside as opposed to having it look inward. The main influence of the design while fulfilling the clients desire was to connect with nature. This was achieved by utilizing the plantation and a free-flowing space in minimalism which further brought a number of notable architectural components such as a stone covered open deck, verandahs, sits outs, a relatively narrow living room that fosters the relationship to the outside, and a minimally contrasting material palette with beige and wood accents. All furniture is custom made and carefully chosen to suite the simple ambience of the house. While the design borrows the context as its best reference, the minimal finishes make the interiors a prominent one and framed views through full-height large windows create a harmony that captivates and enriches daily living.
