PROJECT COMPLETION: 2013 | LOCATION: PALAKKAD
Traditional architecture of Kerala establishes a harmony between the living spaces and nature and it is conventionally achieved by planning spaces around a central courtyard.
An attempt has been made to design a court which has light percolating at all times and also acts as a passage that connects the public and private spaces of the house. Thus, it is defined as a link, from those times of being used as the focal point of a house. The interiors are done in a minimalistic manner reflecting a sense of spatial continuity as the outdoors.
We were driven to create the outdoors with the similar degree of detailing, brought about by designing the front yard with stone tiles as well as grass in between which followed a specific pattern, an additional gazebo and a small stage in one of the corners.
