PUTHUMANA HOUSE

PROJECT COMPLETION: 2016 | LOCATION: PALA

Perched on a site along the riverside, this house was inspired by its exceptional location. The access road on the higher end renders a view of the continuous roof form, patterned ground cover and the landscape that gradually blurs to the river side.

The house was designed keeping the view of the river constantly in mind. As one approaches the site, a glimpse of the river formulates curiosity to know its origin, which is further revealed through a full glazed fixed window in the living room. It is planned in a way that all the semi-open spaces become living spaces most of the time and all the common areas are at strong visual connectivity with the meandering river.

The built mass wrapped in green brings a rustic feel and at the same time, the roofing tiles, cladded walls and the cool shaded interiors creates a contemporary edge.
