PROJECT COMPLETION: 2000 | LOCATION: PALA
The architectural narrative of this house unifies traditional and contemporary styles of that period.
A central courtyard and the seamless flow of spaces around it accentuate the age-old way of planning. The use of stones in the interior, exteriors and the landscape characterizes the boldness that binds the project as a unique one and maintains a cool environment inside through all the seasons. The living spaces, out-house and the pool made out of a quarry merges as a single entity.
Over a period of 19 years, The Thottumkal House has grown enhancing the charm and making it hard to define the edge between the old and new.
